Her father, a renowned composer, arranger and musicologist, introduced her to Brazil's musical heritage. After a brief stint in NewYork City, Céureturned to São Paulo, fronting a samba funk band and later an electro-pop group. Attracting the attention of indie record label, Urban Jungle, Céu recorded her self-titled debut album, After Céu gaining considerable airplay in Europe, Canada, and Japan, Céu earned a Latin Grammy nomination in 2006 for Best New Artist.
